HIV-positive dance coach pleads guilty to raping 16-year-old boy

A dance teacher who appeared on the reality TV show Bring It! has pleaded guilty in Tennessee to raping his 16-year-old student and exposing the boy to the AIDS virus.

The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office announced on Tuesday that 30-year-old John Conner III avoided trial when he pleaded guilty to criminal exposure to HIV, statutory rape by an authority figure and solicitation of a minor.

Investigators say Conner was 26 years old when on several occasions he had unprotected sex in the backseat of his car with a 16-year-old boy he met on social media in 2015.

Conner is best known for appearing on the Lifetime reality TV dance show 'Bring It!'

A short time later, the teenager joined Conner's dance team, the Infamous Dancerettes, which has been featured on the Lifetime show 'Bring It!'

The relationship between the teacher and the student continued with the exchange of text messages, which included details about their sexual activity and nude photos.

Prosecutors say Conner did not tell the teen that he was diagnosed with HIV back in 2012.

When the boy learned of Conner's HIV-positive status in August 2016, he told his parents about their sexual encounters. Around that time, he tested positive for the virus.
